Exhibition / Workshop

How things will finally change

October 16 – 18, 2014,

In a 3-day workshop the makers of the animation film „How things will finally change”, will present their concept of the film and the working methods and processes. In exchange with participants, the workshop intends to contribute to bringing the work on the film a step further.

The film is based on the illustrated children’s book “Communism. A small story about how things will finally change” and it will consist in two parts. Part one explains the capitalist economy and the recent crisis related to it. Part two depicts several utopian attempts to realize a better world.

The modules of the workshop can be visited independently from each other:

Thursday, October 16

6-8 p.m.

Introduction to the film

What does it mean to make a film that is critical of capitalism under precarious capitalist conditions?

Friday, October 17

6-8 p.m.

From book to screenplay, the storyboard

How can we translate a chapter of a book into visual language of moving images?

Saturday, October 18

4-6 p.m.

The construction of figures and space

Together we will build a film set based on the storyboard that we have developed.

Saturday, October 18

6-8 p.m.

Bringing to life

Based on the storyboard of the film, sets and figures will be brought to life, that is, they will be animated. Using animation, we will create a short sequence of the film.
